The annual Great Saw Mill River Clean-Up is part of a large an ongoing community improvement project in Westchester County. It’s fun, practical, meaningful, and easy: you gather some friends and choose the location, and we provide all of the tools, bags, gloves (and other treats) to help you collect tons of trash in your community while connecting with neighbors and the outdoors.

Groups will be working at various sites throughout the Saw Mill River Watershed on Saturday, May 12 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. You can join in at one of the spots listed on our map of potential clean-up sites, or you can let us know of a different site that you would like to clean up.

Invasive plants overwhelm local habitats by stealing water, nutrients, sunlight and space from native species. Fast-growing vines are among the most threatening invasive plants, slowly strangling trees in an upward spiral and eventually blocking the sun. They significantly diminish the quality of the wildlife habitat by limiting food sources and nesting areas, negatively impacting the number of species that can use the river corridor.

Help us protect our local habitat from invasive vines!

The next vine cutting event will be held on Sunday, April 29, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Farragut Avenue Restoration Site.

Meet on the trail North of the parking lot. Please wear long pants and close-toed shoes. We will provide refreshments, training, and all of the necessary tools and supplies (but if you have your own, bring them along!). Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
