River RATz (Restoration Action Team)
This program trains adult volunteers to take part in habitat restoration projects along the Saw Mill River. Volunteers, who will help in cleanups, invasive species removal, and native plantings, will become part of the Restoration Action Team and be affectionately known as the Saw Mill River RATz.
Two to three seminars are held yearly so that new and old River RATz gain more knowledge of basic stream ecology, the negative impacts of invasive plants, and the benefits of native plants.
To become a River RAT, please contact Ann-Marie Mitroff at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (914) 375-2151. Also watch our news updates for the next training sessions and/or habitat restoration activities.
