Second Annual Great Saw Mill River Clean-Up! May 14th & 15th
Last year, over 250 people gathered at 10 sites along the Saw Mill River to remove trash and restore habitat.
We need your help to make this event a resounding success again this year! Be part of the group of volunteers (families, civic and youth groups, businesses) to join or lead cleanup crews, bagging tons of trash from streets, parks and streams, and connecting with neighbors and the outdoors. It’s fun, practical, meaningful, and easy. You gather some friends and Groundwork will help you find a site near you and provide all of the tools, supplies, and training you need. Do your cleanup, leave the bags for the local highway department, and report your cleanup results to SMRC.
Participating groups last year included: Yonkers Bike Club, Westchester Jewish Community Services, Girl Scouts HH Northwest Troop 1755, Hudson River & Beyond Kayakers and Canoeists, Coca-Cola employees, Cub Scout Pack 338, Hillside Nature guides, Ardsley High School Environmental Club and more!

Not sure where your help is needed? We can help. Check out the Online Map of Potential Cleanup Sites showing various locations throughout the watershed. You can join in at one of the spots listed or let us know where you would like to clean up.

The Kick-Off Event is on Friday, May 6, 2011 4pm, The Science Barge, Yonkers. This is when crews pick up their supplies. Plus, it’s fun to meet and mingle with other cleanup crew leaders. Details to be determined.
