Stewardship Teams

It is clear that local communities want to restore the Saw Mill River.  Their commitment can be seen in the broad-based membership of the Saw Mill River Coalition, as well as in the participation of many schools, local groups, and hundreds of volunteers in river projects.

Recognizing that the Saw Mill River can be improved only through ongoing public engagement, in 2010 we began to develop local stewardship teams throughout the watershed.  Schools, businesses, community groups, and other formal and informal organizations can adopt a section of the river, a local street in the watershed, or any Saw Mill area in need of a clean-up.  The Coalition assists participating groups in planning and supplying all necessary materials.

Through the hard work of local stewardship teams, we are making important progress in turning the Saw Mill Watershed into a trash-free zone.  If you are interested in starting or joining a local stewardship team, please e-mail Emily Eder at Emily@groundworkhv.org or call  914-375-2151.
